Other names include: Zamioculcas zamiifolia Raven
Part of the Araceae family and is a perennial tuber. Recently discovered in 2015 in Asia, this plant is low-maintenance and hardy. It has deep purple, almost black leaves which first emerge as bright green and then darken over time. Can grow to maturity up to 30" by 30" and thrives in partial shade but can grow in a variety of lighting conditions. Prefers sandy, well-drained soil with an acidic pH. Rarely blooms inside and if it does will occur in spring or summer.
Not safe for pets; plants are toxic if ingested.
Not recommended to place in direct sunlight as the plant can experience leaf burn.
Our varieties are established using a custom blend of potting soil.
All of our Raven ZZ plants come from mother plants that were originally sourced in San Antonio, Texas.
The Raven ZZ plant has thick, water-storing rhizomes which make it drought-tolerant. Recommend to let the soil completely dry out in between waterings. The plant grows in spring and summer requiring more water than during the fall and winter seasons.
We recommend repotting once the plant outgrows its container. The plant does like being root-bound so about 1 - 3 years depending on the size. It's a customer preference. We also suggested refreshing the soil using fertilizer.
