Our prayer plants are typically 8" 12" (measured at bottom of stem to top of leaf tip)
Pots are in terra cotta or hanging, decorative cement
Other names include: maranta plant.
It's name is due to the leaves being wide and flat during the day and then fold up 'in prayer' at night. Plant is native to Brazil, an evergreen perennial, and is low growing usually no larger than 12" in height. This tropical variety has deep green, velvet leaves with yellow-green coloring spots down the middle of the leaves and reddish pink leaf veins. Prayer plants grow in partial sunlight and prefer acidic, moist, and well-drained soil that is watered frequently in a warm, humid environment.
Non-toxic, safe for pets; ingestion is still not recommended.
Our varieties are established using a custom blend of potting soil.
All of our Prayer Plants come from a mother plant that was originally sourced in San Antonio, Texas.
Recommended to water 2-3 times per week, making sure the soil is always moist and does not dry out. Also can provide additional humidity to plant (a greenhouse environment is best), which will prolong plant life. Plants cannot survive in under 64 degree Fahrenheit temperatures and typically thrive in 80+ temperatures.
We recommend the plant should change pots when leaves continue to wilt after watering. It's a customer preference. We also suggested refreshing the soil every few months and if the plant is a manageable size, repot every year or so.
